Cultural events

Cultural and social events in the surrounding of Jánošíkov dvor (Jánošík’s court) – even people admiring distinctive culture and traditions will find something for themselves, they just need to choose one of many cultural and social events which are being held in this region in summer and winter season.

Farm horses race (Terchová - March)

  • untraditional race not only for horse breeders, but mainly for spectators
  • race is connected with display of carnival masks and regional traditions

Slovak championship in scythe skiving (Vrátna dolina - hotel Boboty - June)

  • attractive competition which includes skiving competition, as well as many other spectators‘ competitions
  • race accompanied by folk music from Terchová

Jánošík’s days (Terchová – August)

  • international folklore festival presenting foreign and domestic artists
  • festival is connected with the presentation of folk art, it includes ceremonial concert in Terchová church, horse carriage of artists and musicians, festivity, carousels and many other attractions

Martin feast (November)

  • return to old-fashioned Terchová feast
  • undertaking which lasts three days and continues old rich traditions of celebrating St. Martin – patron of Terchová parish

Nativity scene (December)

  • unusual musical play from Terchová depicting the birth of Jesus
